Our History

The YMCA of Corry took shape in 1899. The Y utilized various facilities around Corry to meet and run programs including the armory. In 1956, a number of key stakeholders got together and decided to build the current facility.

The facility remained the same until 1970 when they added a gymnasium. Years later in 2001, after deciding against partnering with the Corry Area School District for a new pool, the YMCA built its own and converted the original pool into a fitness center. By 2004, some planning led to the renovation of the fitness center and locker rooms, which was supported by private donations and community foundations. Then in 2005 Daycare services began, which was expanded with additional classrooms by 2023.

In 2013, the YMCA of Corry launched several initiatives, including hosting the Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts program and offering complimentary memberships to 7th graders, eventually leading to the Rex Building being repurposed for fitness classes. A partnership with the Union City School District in 2022 allowed the YMCA to manage the Union City swimming pool and offer swim lessons to students in their community, and in 2023 they added the addition of indoor playgrounds. The YMCA of Corry continues to develop youth programs and build community, all the while aiming to provide positive experiences for all.
