Edith L. Trees Charitable Trust Firefly Program
The Firefly Program, made possible through the generosity of the Edith L. Trees Charitable Trust, is a specialized initiative of the YMCA designed exclusively for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Our goal is to provide a welcoming, inclusive, and enriching environment where participants can thrive through physical activity, community engagement, and meaningful connection.
Membership Eligibility
Firefly memberships are available to individuals with a documented intellectual disability. To qualify, applicants must provide one of the following:
A copy of an Individualized Education Program (IEP)
Documentation from a licensed physician or certified professional confirming an intellectual disability diagnosis
Proof of enrollment in a recognized special education, disability, or waiver program
How It Works
Firefly memberships are valid only when the Firefly participant is accompanied by a Firefly family member on YMCA premises. This ensures safety, support, and shared experience. Firefly benefits and activities are designated solely for the registered individual and are not transferable.
Through this program, Firefly participants can access YMCA facilities and programs tailored to promote well-being, independence, and joy within a safe and supportive community.
